Joseph Koroma a member of the FC Harlem U13 travel team and student at Harlem Link recently won the school spelling bee for 2011. Joseph’s spelled every word correct through all rounds knocking off the previous two time champion. Executive Director, Irv Smalls was in attendance and said Joseph was very composed and confident through the bee.
Joseph credits his teachers at the school who encouraged him to study hard and attending the FC Harlem after school homework sessions. “Tomek the FC Harlem tutor was really helpful. He quizzed me each day on my words and gave soccer magazines to read and learn new words” said Joseph.
FC HARLEM congratulated Joseph with a gift pack of his favorite team Manchester United. The gift pack included a official jersey with his favorite number and name on the back, official backpack, pens and pencils.
